With a big party at its main factory in Torbole Casaglia (Brescia), Automazioni Industriali CAPITANIO Srl (AIC), a company that is represented by ONEMET and active in the fields of switchgear 
construction, automation and mechatronics or robotic solutions for the steel industry, celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 24, 2025. In addition to employees from the various AIC Group locations, numerous guests from AIC customers and partners from all over the world (amongst them ONEMET CEO Gerhard Richter and his wife Sabine) were invited to this event. They enjoyed a fantastic program and had a wonderful time. Huge thanks go to the entire Capitanio family, especially to AIC CEO Marco Capitanio, his wife Milena and his father Dino, as well as to all AIC employees who were involved in organizing and executing this party. Congratulations on an incredible event!  
In its so far 50 years of existence, AIC has not only become one of the most competent and flexible providers of electrical systems and customized automation solutions for the steel industry (AIC is also authorized system partner of ROCKWELL, SIEMENS and ABB), but has also developed innovative mechatronic and robotic solutions which elevate various production processes to a new level (such as the TrimBot for the automatic sampling of steel wire coils, a robot for the automatic labeling of steel bar bundles or wire rod coils, or an automatic stacking system for rolled steel bar, flat steel or profiles). This portfolio also includes high-performance tying machines for steel bar, tube and section bundles, manufactured by ATS Mechatronics Srl, a company based in Trasaghis (Udine), that has been part of the AIC Group since 2019 and is, like the parent company AIC, also represented by ONEMET. 
 
Under the new motto „Crafting Evolution“, the AIC Group continues its expansion. This year, AIC became the sole owner of the German company KERN Industrie-Automation GmbH (KIA), that also offers electrical systems and automation solutions, but also possesses special expertise in safety technology for process lines e. g. for strip processing. AIC acquired KIA after initially cooperating with the company and then acquiring a first portion of shares. 
 
In addition to the main plants of AIC and ATS in Italy as well as to the KIA plant in Germany, the AIC Group also has its own subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, the USA, Brazil, India and China. ONEMET represents AIC in Southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia.

The paper „Optimized Surface Conditioning By Means Of State-Of-The-Art Grinding Equipment, Solid User Know-How And Real-Time Data Acquisition“, prepared by Groupe IMCG (Thierry Marlot, Xavier Rafael) and ONEMET (Gerhard Richter) was selected for the conference program and will be presented by Gerhard Richter on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 10:20 a.m. as part of session R.02.1 in room 27 of the Congress Center Düsseldorf.
Due to the fact that IMCG has extensive know-how as a developer and manufacturer of high-performance, tailor-made grinding machines for slabs, ingots, blooms and billets made of steel or special alloys, as well as profound experience in operating these machines within the framework of executing long-term service contracts in the customers‘ works, IMCG and ONEMET hope for lively interest in this lecture.

TESTORI and ONEMET started their cooperation at the end of 2020.
ONEMET’s task was to support TESTORI – already successfully operating in many parts of the world with ist own sales and service subsidiaries – in entering the Austrian market. After these first steps have been taken in the past 2-1/2 years, TESTORI will now look after customers in Austria itself – with his own German staff. More than one year ago, this well-maintained, fully-functional radial forging machine was taken out of production. Awaiting things, it remained installed at its location in the USA and was waiting for its new owner. There was a lot of interest from potential buyers, but the machine was mostly to be going too small for the intended applications. Ultimately, however, the machine was a perfect fit for the requirements of a buyer from Southern Europe.
The dismantling of the equipment is scheduled for July 2023, after which it will be shipped to Europe. And if everything goes as planned, then the machine (after a thorough check and adapting the electrical system to European standards) will be back in production at the turn of the year 2023 / 2024 – in the factory of the new owner.

Groupe IMCG SAS, a manufacturer of special machines and experienced service provider for the steel industry that is represented in Central Europe and other selected markets by ONEMET, takes  pleasure in announcing the foundation of their German subsidiary, IMCG Industrieservice GmbH.

The first task of IMCG Industrieservice (IMCG IS) is the provision of services for grinding of continuously cast steel slabs for the removal of surface defects, with subsequent quality control, by means of a state-of-the-art slab grinding machine with associated material handling equipment supplied by Groupe IMCG, within the framework of a supply and service contract concluded with ARCELORMITTAL Eisenhüttenstadt GmbH (AMEH).  

With the help of IMCG IS (and ONEMET), however, the entire product and service portfolio of Groupe IMCG, i. e. the delivery of customized, high-performance production equipment and the execution of top-quality material conditioning services (including operating and maintaining the production equipment with professionally skilled personnel) shall also be made available to other interested customers within the German steel and special metals industries.

In French-speaking countries, Groupe IMCG has already been established for many years as a reliable service provider for the conditioning of various semi-finished steel products such as slabs, ingots, blooms, billets, etc., and as a developer and manufacturer of innovative, high-quality machines and systems such as e. g. high-pressure grinding machines or high-performance band saws. Together with ONEMET, IMCG has now succeeded in winning a tender in Germany for the first time.



At ARCELORMITTAL in Eisenhüttenstadt, continuously cast steel slabs are manufactured as a starting product for downstream rolling processes. Main customer for these rolled products is the automotive industry. In order to further improve the already high quality of the products, some of the slabs shall be subjected to a surface treatment for removing any surface defects such as e. g. cracks. The high-pressure grinding process selected is the most efficient and qualitywise best technology for this purpose; it is also extremely environmental-friendly (no utilization of fossile fuels, CO2-neutral) and the chips and dusts resulting from the grinding process can be fully recycled.

As part of the contract concluded with ARCELORMITTAL, IMCG will supply all process equipment with the high-pressure grinding machine manufactured by IMCG being the heart piece. This state-of-the-art machine has a stationary grinding unit equipped with 2 grinding heads – one for grinding the horizontal rolling surfaces of the slabs with a motor power of 400 kW and one for grinding the vertical side surfaces with a motor power of 200 kW. For grinding, the slabs are moved longitudinally by means of a special grinding table. Turning the slabs by 180 ° after grinding one horizontal and one vertical surface is carried-out using a slab turning device fixed onto the foundation. A new 30 t bridge crane with magnet attachment (also supplied by IMCG) is used for transporting the slabs to and from the grinding plant, replacing an existing bridge crane in this area.


In addition to supplying the equipment, IMCG will also carry-out the slab treatment as a service for a period of 10 years from the commissioning of the grinding plant. IMCG will not only be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the equipment, but also for the grinding result, i. e. for achieving the required throughput capacity and the desired product quality. To achieve these goals, IMCG can count on the user know-how acquired over the years; this offers ARCELORMITTAL the advantage of reliable, top-quality slab conditioning at optimal cost and lowest risk.
